Grade 3 forged-steel Kenter joining shackle, individually serialized and supplied with a valid American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) certificate (one certificate often covers a range of serial numbers).

Metric product — inch shown only to help you choose

Kenter shackles are manufactured in metric sizes only. This is the 22mm shackle. The 7/8" shown is the inch equivalent, included so buyers working from an old imperial chain or specification can find the right part — it is not a separate imperial-made size. If your application calls for 7/8", the correct metric kenter is 22mm.

Not sure of your size? Measure one chain link's overall length on-line and divide by 6 to get the nominal metric size, or send us a photo with measurements and we'll confirm.

Installation & removal

Qualified personnel only. To install: disassemble the kenter, insert the taper pin through the chain link and kenter body, drive it home (large end first) with a sledgehammer, then secure with a lead plug hammered flush. To remove: take out the lead plug first (torch or drill), then punch the small end of the taper pin out.

Safety

  • Not approved for overhead lifting — mooring and anchoring use only.
  • Do not exceed the rated breaking load.
  • Inspect before each use for deformation, cracks, and corrosion.
  • The lead plug must be fully seated before operational use.
  • Always match the kenter grade to the chain grade. Replace used kenters — do not re-certify.
