Genuine CGU-1/B ratchet tie-downs, rated 5,000 lb (2,250 kg), for aircraft, trailers and cargo. CGU-1/B is the standard military aircraft cargo tie-down (MIL-PRF-27260 / SAE AS27260), the strap air forces use to restrain vehicles and cargo in transport aircraft. These are Canadian Forces–branded straps built to that spec. They hold a light aircraft on the ramp, at a grass strip or at the dock, and keep it there when the wind picks up.

Ships within Canada only.

Why pilots choose CGU-1/B straps

  • 5,000 lb (2,250 kg) rated. Far stronger than rope or light ratchet straps, with plenty of margin for gusts on a parked aircraft.
  • Military spec. Built to the CGU-1/B standard, a proven design used worldwide in military cargo aircraft.
  • Ratchet tensioning. Snug the aircraft down firmly with no knots to tie, retie or loosen overnight.
  • Positive-locking snap hook. The ratchet hooks on at one end and a spring-latched snap hook at the other end won't shake loose.
  • 240 in (20 ft) of heavy nylon webbing (about 1¾ in wide) with steel hardware. Long enough to reach from a high wing to a ground anchor, or across a trailer or cargo load.
  • Quick release. Open the ratchet and you're untied in seconds for preflight.

Great for

  • Tying down aircraft at grass strips, farm strips and private fields, used with ground anchors
  • Transient and ramp parking
  • Floatplane and amphibian tie-downs at the dock
  • Securing cargo in bush planes, trailers and pickup beds
  • Hauling aircraft, gliders, ATVs, snowmobiles and equipment

Which pack?

  • Pack of 4: one aircraft (two wings and the tail) plus a spare.
  • Pack of 8: two aircraft, or one aircraft with cargo straps to spare.

  4. To release, open the ratchet handle fully.

Safety and care

  • Do not exceed the 5,000 lb (2,250 kg) rating. Not for overhead lifting.
  • Inspect before each use. Retire any strap with cuts, fraying, burns or damaged hardware.
  • Attach only to rated tie-down points and anchors.
  • Store out of direct sunlight when not in use to extend the life of the webbing.
