  • Mooring systems and offshore platform anchoring
  • Defence and government maritime procurement

Compatibility

Designed for 70mm (2-3/4") Grade 3 stud link anchor chain. Due to the ±2.5% manufacturing tolerance, the actual kenter measures 68.3–71.8mm and accommodates equivalent imperial chain sizes within tolerance.

Required accessories (sold separately):

  • Lead Plug — required to secure the taper pin after installation. This size takes the 64–70 mm plug.
  • Drive Pin Punch — required for disassembly. Contact us for the correct punch size for this diameter.

Installation Instructions

  1. Qualified personnel required for installation.
  2. Required tools: drift punch, sledgehammer appropriate for chain size.
  3. Disassemble kenter and insert taper pin through the chain link and kenter body.
  4. Drive the taper pin fully home (large end first) with a sledgehammer.
  5. Secure with a lead plug — hammer flush until the pin cannot back out.
  6. Inspect visually before placing into service.
  7. For disassembly: Remove the lead plug first (torch or drill), then use a Drive Pin Punch on the small end of the taper pin to drive it out.

Safety Warnings

  • NOT approved for overhead lifting.
  • NOT for load bearing in air — mooring and anchoring use only.
  • Do not exceed rated breaking load (376.3 tonnes / 829,554 lbs).
  • Inspect before each use — check for deformation, cracks, and corrosion.
  • Replace if dimensional changes, cracking, or missing components are detected.
  • Lead plug must be installed and fully seated before operational use.
  • Always match kenter grade to chain grade — do not mix grades.
  • Used kenters should be replaced, not re-certified.
