Non-Sparking Handle — 58″ Fibreglass, for Scrapers, Brooms and Mops

The 58″ handle for Ampco's socketed tools — the S-20 to S-33 scraper blades, the S-71S floor scraper, and Ampco brooms and mops. Scraper blades are sold without a handle, so you need one of these with your first blade; after that one handle serves the lot.

Heavy-duty fibreglass, not metal. Non-sparking, non-magnetic and corrosion resistant, with a tapered fit and a polypropylene tip. Fibreglass is used here rather than wood because it does not absorb solvents or fuel, does not splinter or swell, and wipes clean — which matters in exactly the places these tools are used.

A note on non-sparking tools

The non-sparking property belongs to the aluminum bronze working end, not the handle. A non-metallic handle does not create a spark risk, but it does not make a steel blade safe either — the blade is what matters.

Aluminum bronze reduces the risk of a frictional or impact spark; it does not remove every ignition source, and it is not a substitute for gas freeing, ventilation or a permit system. The hazardous-area assessment is your safety case.
