Spira-Loop Loop Kiln Chain
The original overlapped circular chain, and the highest heat-transfer area in the range. The long overlapping section maximises surface area while letting slurry pass through the links.

For heat transfer only — not suitable for lifting. Kiln chain
hangs in a kiln as a heat exchanger and as a scraper. It is not rated for load,
it carries no working load limit, and it must never be used for lifting or
rigging. The catalogue page says so on every family and so do we.
The round-link design with a long overlapping section gives the
greatest surface area per foot of anything here. The doubled section acts as an
eccentric, so links rotate — which spreads wear evenly, keeps the chain flexible
and makes it self-cleaning and non-kinking.
Supplied in ready-to-install lengths, needing no enlarged end links.
Against the alternatives at the same nominal size, on the
figures in the table below: about 44% more area per foot than
ring-type, and 54–59% more than proof coil.

Material: Type K (Carroll Alloy), AISI 8620, carbon steels. Surface area is the number that matters —
the chain is a heat exchanger, so area per foot decides how much chain the kiln
needs, and area per pound decides what that area costs you.

Weights are calculated at 0.283 lb/in³ for carbon and alloy steel, and
0.29 lb/in³ for stainless.
Fitting it
Chain hangs from a hanger through a
shackle. Both are quoted separately.
The shackle is pinned and locked with a plate: hang the chain on the shackle,
position it over the hanger, push the pin through both, place the locking plate
in its recess and straighten it with a few hammer blows.
Tell us the kiln, the zone and the duty and we will quote it.
